Pregnancy and family update

Just so you know I've done like 5 posts before this one.  Check em out!

I'm about 11 weeks along now.  I feel like I'm already showing like I did at 15 weeks last time.  That was my awkward in between stage.  I'm still pretty sick, but not as bad as those first couple weeks.  I throw up everyday and at one point thought this pregnancy I felt better than last, but now I think I might be a little sicker this time around.  Oh well, it's still not that bad.  I have a few friends that are REALLY sick the WHOLE pregnancy so I really have nothing to complain about.  I'm thinking by 15 weeks I should be feeling great.

We had an ultra sound a few weeks ago and all looked great.  We'll have another one in about a week!  Boston has been sick all week with tonsilitis and Bronchitis so it's been a tough week for us, but in some ways I was glad to have an excuse to stay in and watch baby einstein when needed.  I wasn't feeling so hot either.  I bought an ADORABLE dress for my birthday that I can't wait to wear throughout my pregnancy.  It's a long maxi dress and I'm afraid I will want to wear it every single day while pregnant!  Maybe I'll be a dress girl for the first time in my life.

I'm doing so so great in the anxiety department.  I feel wonderful.  I am sort of noticing a pattern of ebbs and flows every 2 weeks.  I seem to have 2 weeks of mild night time anxiety and 2 weeks of feeling perfectly normal.  I'm not sure if it'll continue that way, but I can totally deal it.  It's not bad at night and It doesn't prevent me from sleeping.  I just have to tell myself that any irrational thoughts or fears I may have at night are nothing, and have no validity.   Then I feel great again in the morning.  The last 2 weeks I've had no anxiety so that's been lovely.

With Dane's new job we are in bed by 10 every night (sometimes earlier) so that might be helping with late night anxiety.  I also have become a daily coke drinker (for nausea) but I switched to caffeine free and diet.  I'm trying to get back to no sugar, but it's been a slow transition.

I still think chicken and tomatoes are disgusting and I hate the smell of most everything.  Although Boston got out of the bath the other day and I sat him on my lap smelling him for like a half hour.  He was the best smelling thing in the whole house.

Dane is liking his new job so far and we are so grateful to A. have an income and B. get back on a good budget (We got off track at the end of Grad school as we didn't have enough money to pay our bills). His commute to work is 5 minutes, so that makes Dane one happy boy.
Dane has his own office and is pretty excited about that.  I'm gonna send him to work with a picture of Boston and him and a HOTT picture of me, probably circa 5 years ago.  :)

And the biggest news in our lives right now?  I've been making lunch, breakfast and dinner for the fam. every night for one week straight!!!!! This is unheard of in the Yancey home, but since Dane started work I've been getting up with him, making him breakfast and then making him lunch (cause he gets to come home) and dinner on the table by 6!  It is so much easier to do this now that Dane has a consistent schedule and I think Dane's really loving it.

My sister Lisa was my inspiration for this, cause she ALWAYS cooks every meal for her Hubs and he's always eating really healthy and they're saving money.  His coworkers are jealous and that's my goal.  Make Dane's coworkers jealous. :)

First baby appointment

We got to see our little gummy bear today!  The Nurse midwife confirmed we're about 8 weeks along.  Just what I was expecting.  They weren't planning on giving me an ultrasound today, but since I asked, she did a little hand held ultrasound that looked like a GPS.  She placed the wand on my tummy and I held the screen.  It was pretty cool.

Can't wait for our official ultrasound next week.  I'll have to get my blood drawn then too.  They tried to take my blood today, but I was a bit dehydrated and they couldn't find a vein.  Better luck next week!

I've been feeling pretty great for the last couple days so that's been awesome too, but my CNM left a nausea medication for me at the pharmacy just in case.  :)

In other life news, Boston is still as cute as ever.  He likes to wear his snuggie (that's his blanket) like a cape all day long and he's getting more "big boy" every day.  We find his little matchbox cars all over the house.  His toys went from being mostly unisex baby toys, to total big boy toys.  He's got 3 dump trucks and tons of little matchbox cars that he likes to race all over the house while making his best car sound (it's kinda of just a growl...which is his noise for everything).

Dane's working hard applying for jobs and interviewing.  We're headed to Bellevue, Wa next week for an interview.  Fingers crossed.  Gotta admit it's been nice having Dane home with me after a long and busy last semester of school.  :)

Inspired

So I thought I would share our little story of deciding to get pregnant, but I have to take it back a ways.  Last year, (not like a few days ago, but WAY back last year) my Mom and I went to a Relief Society activity on, How to be a Scriptorian.  The speaker was really amazing and she talked about paying attention to how the Spirit speaks to you, because the Spirit speaks differently to everyone and more often than not, the spirit will have 1 or 2 ways that it typically speaks to you.

I know a few people that have had multiple miraculous, light shining down moments where the spirit is speaking to them.  I know others that receive inspiration often through dreams.  For me almost 100% of the time the spirit speaks to me by simple thoughts.  I will have a thought that feels like my own original thought, but over time (and being able to look back in retrospect)  I realize that those "original thoughts" were not my own and came from Heavenly Father. I've had quite a few moments of the spirit using someone else, or a book or music to speak to me and I've had one time in my life that I felt like the Spirit guided me so directly that I just was acting without even having to think about it.  But I can't remember a time that I've had a light shining down moment.

When I was dating Dane I was constantly waiting for THAT moment and it never happened.  I thought after everything I had been through the Lord would pick my spouse for me and that would be that.  Instead I was told, "Dane will be an excellent choice, but it's your choice".  Dang it!  I was hoping the choice would be made for me.  I wasn't too confidant in my good choice making abilities so I was scared to make the choice with Dane.  But I couldn't deny how much I loved him, how logical it all seemed, and how right it felt.  Every day since marrying Dane, has proved to me I've made the right choice, and I think I needed to see I knew how to make some REALLY good choices and the Lord knew that (he always knows so much better than me).

Anyway, back to the story at hand.  Dane and I decided after we had Boston that we wouldn't try for another baby until he had a stable job, insurance and no possibilities of moving (as I moved about 8 times last pregnancy and it's believed that was the majority of what caused all my postpartum anxiety) with the caveat that we were open to a different plan if the Lord so inspired us.  This plan was a good and logical one and we were happy with it.  Although I was getting baby hungry (but honestly I was baby hungry when Boston was like 6 months old) I still wasn't fully ready to start trying for another little one.

This last October I was watching the Saturday session of Conference and this talk came on.  I take notes when watching Conference and I wrote, "Listen up!" before the talk had even begun.  As I listened to this talk (it's all about children) I kept taking notes and inspiring thoughts just kept coming to me like, "maybe act in faith and blessings will follow" and then I had my light shining down moment.  I jumped up from my chair (literally) and wanted to shout, "It's time to get Remi here!"  Remi will be the name of our baby if it's a girl.  And maybe it will be a boy, but either way I felt like our next baby was waiting for us.  I'm a pretty analytical and indecisive person, but this was a moment that I felt 100% certain that the Lord was inspiring me to at least bring this up to Dane.  I still wasn't sure if that meant we should try right away, but I knew Dane would know.  So I woke him up from his nap and told him that I listened to a talk, felt inspired to have a baby and I wanted him to tell me what he thinks.  He said he would listen to the talk, but it would take a miracle for him to feel like we were ready.  So we said a prayer, we listened to the talk together and at the end Dane said, "I think you're right, it might be time".  I cried, we hugged and then did a lot more praying for the next couple weeks.  We went to the Temple to get final confirmation and felt great about things.  And here we are, pregnant with baby #2.

I am so grateful for the opportunity to receive inspiration from the Lord.  I wish it could always happen in such exact and clear ways as this, but I am so grateful for his guidance in my life.  I was really hoping I would feel inspired the next time we had a baby, so that when and if times get tough in this pregnancy or postpartum, I could fall back on that moment of total inspiration.  I'm glad the Lord agreed with me on this idea.  :)

So here we are again at a big cross roads in our life, not sure where we'll be living next, but working hard and riding on faith that the Lord will make up the difference.  He already has.  Dane has a job here in Spokane, we can stay in our awesome house with cheap rent and although we hope this job is only temporary, we're so grateful that the Lord has blessed us like he told me he would,

"act in faith and blessings will follow".

Feeling pretty grateful today.

The diet I'm on

OK so I'm not really on a diet, but I have lost 7 lbs in 4 days.  Yikes!  I can hardly eat anything and what I do eat won't stay down.  I've also had to abandoned my no sugar thing I've been doing for a couple months.  I let that go at Christmas time and intended on getting right back to it, but there are very few things I can eat, so I eat them, sugar or no sugar.  Right now that list consists of

White bread with butter
Smore's poptarts (Dane brought those home in a stroke of genuis)
Apple Sauce
Jello and sometimes plain oatmeal.

Before Dane brought home white bread and pop tarts I was only eating applesauce and 1 small serving of oatmeal.

Oh and I've ate a few handfuls of nerds...those are pretty good.

So as you can see my body is SERIOUSLY lacking in nutrition, but I am keeping down my multivitamin every day and drinking 3 20 oz water bottles a day, so hopefully that's helping somewhat. I'm certain the baby's getting what she (for the sake of not calling my baby "it" I will just call her "she") needs seeing as how she seems to be taking anything she can get from me.  Which speaking of, I was trying to lose weight before I got pregnant and at at the 10 lb mark I had a little reward for myself.  If I keep losing at this rate I may just be getting my Nars (Barbarella) lipstick in just a few days!  Does that count?  The husband probably will say no, but hey...it's worth a shot.

Speaking of the husband he's been keeping things running since we've been home.  Our first night back from vacation I unpacked and took down all our Christmas decorations and quickly realized I WAY over did it.  Since then If I don't want to throw up or faint I pretty much stay put (only to get up for Boston's needs).  That means Dane has been cleaning the house, making meals for the people that do eat in this house and lighting candles every time he cooks, so the house doesn't smell bad (I didn't even have to ask him to do that...so thoughtful).

He starts work on Thursday and I'm a little nervous to not have him around!  We'll be fine though.  Maybe we'll even get out of the house.  I haven't left the house even once since we got home on Sunday...that is unheard of for me!  Normally that would drive me crazy, but I've been fine...I don't really have a choice.

Oh and my little boy went from stinky to rotten.  You know how when it's your own kid, they just don't gross you out?  Since being pregnant Boston totally grosses me out.  Not all the time, just when he stinks, has stinky breathe, or has food all over him.  And let's just say I'm highly contemplating putting a throw up bucket by the changing table.  :)

Lest this blog sound too complainy I'll list the postives.

I'm actually quite happy.  0 anxiety whatsoever (ya!!!) and I'm really happy about being pregnant and not freaked out at all...yet.

Also, I know this shouldn't really be a positive, but like I mentioned I totally had weight to lose before the pregnancy, so I can't say I mind that I'm losing so much right now.  Not happy about the way I'm losing it, hope me and baby are healthy, trying to do what I can to keep weight on, but it's still kind of a plus.

So that's it, first appointment is on Friday!!! Woohoo!

Officially Pregnant

I still haven't seen my Dr. yet to "confirm" I'm pregnant and maybe hear a little heart beat, but I told Dane yesterday that I'm "officially" pregnant.  I threw up 3 times.  I think I'm probably like 6- 8 weeks along and I've been feeling flu like ever since I found out I was pregnant, but no throwing up until yesterday.  I'm trying to have a good attitude though and just focus on the positive with this pregnancy.  So last night after Dane rushed after me to the bathroom as I threw up in a trash can on my way to the toilet, Dane immediately washed out the can and offered to clean the toilet so I could have a nice clean place to throw up in (he's a good guy) I went back to bed and told Dane I must be growing a healthy baby (I've heard being sick is a good sign) and I'm grateful for that. I also would rather deal with "morning sickness" than anxiety and I'm doing great with the latter, so I'm grateful for that too.

I also started a pregnancy journal (I did the same thing with Boston) but I started a new addition to this journal.  I write 100 pregnancy blessings every day (although I didn't do this on vacation) in 10 different categories.  For example some of the categories are ,

10 Ways the Lord showed me he loves me today
10 Ways this pregnancy blesses my future
10 Ways I've been blessed in this pregnancy today

etc...etc...

The list is on my other computer but maybe I'll fill you in on the other 7 categories another time.  Anyway I do this at the end of the day and it really helps me to feel really positive before bed, which I think is a great shield against anxiety.

I also have been e-mailing with an herbalist (I feel so granola saying that) and she is gonna make up all sorts of teas and remedies for me to strengthen my nervous system on a daily basis and some calming teas that can be used on the spot if I do have major anxiety one night.

I changed my OB this time around to a Nurse midwife who seems great and comes highly recommended and I think that will be a lot better for me as she'll have more time with her patients than your average OB.  I also felt like my OB thought I was stupid and didn't care about my concerns and was rush, rush, rushing me.  I'm sure not all OB's are like that, but I also understand that they don't have as much time for every patient, given that they have so much to do and so many patients.  My Nurse midwife delivers at the same hospital Boston was born in, and I liked that hospital, so that'll be good.

I also am interviewing Doula's right now, so I can have someone who'll come labor at home with Dane and I and while at the hospital.  Even though I have a Nurse midwife, she will still have other patients and not be with Dane and I the whole time, but a Doula is there just for me and I think  I will really like that.  She'll also teach me childbirthing classes (I'm thinking of Hypnobirthing) and I think that will be great because I'm insistent on going natural this time.  I don't want to deal with all the medicines and epidural yuckiness of last time.

So there it is! I've got my ducks in a row and we'll see how it all works out.  My plans may all go south, but It helps me to feel much more relaxed to have a plan. :)  Anyway, besides feeling sick and only eating applesauce (Thanks Bekie for the canned Apple sauce you gave us forever ago...it's so good!) things are going great.  :)
