Nana visits/ big boy bed adventures

Nana visits Bosty in his cape

It took some adjusting to the big boy bed, but as soon as we got the frame up he slept much better.

Boss is our silly little man that especially likes to be silly at lunch.  :)  I think he's singing here.

Thoughts from Time out for Women

I had the opportunity this year to attend Time out for Women.  It was such an awesome and uplifting experience that has impacted every day positively since I've been back.  Here are just a few random thoughts/quotes that I took away from TOFW

  • The theme this year is "Seek the Good".  What a great theme, huh?
  • The word seek means to go in search of, try to discover, try to acquire.  It's the opposite of passively waiting for good to come to us.

  • Receiving is as important as giving.  I loved this thought, because it's important that we allow good to come to us and receive the messages that Heavenly Father is trying to give us.
  • "No storm can change my most calm".  That was a line in one of the songs and I love it because it emphasizes that we always have more strength in the Lord, than any weakness or temptation or trial.
  • Regardless of your intention, you'll eventually become what you surround yourself with.
  • You are the average of the five people you hang around with.  This one really hits home and makes me want to pay even more attention to who and what I spend my time on.
  • You change by changing your environment- Spencer W.  Kimball
  • What you sincerely think in your heart about Christ will determine who you are- David O. Mckay
  • Fill your mind with thoughts of Christ and your hearts with love of Christ- Thomas S. Monson
That's just a smidgen of the notes I took during the first talk of day one.  I'll do some more posts on TOFW.

Lots of great gems to think on.

I won't give up

Jason Mraz

"I Won't Give Up"
Hmmmm ... Hmmmm ... Hmmmm ... Hmmm ...

When I look into your eyes
It's like watching the night sky
Or a beautiful sunrise
There's so much they hold
And just like them old stars
I see that you've come so far
To be right where you are
How old is your soul?

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

And when you're needing your space
To do some navigating
I'll be here patiently waiting
To see what you find

'Cause even the stars they burn
Some even fall to the earth
We've got a lot to learn
God knows we're worth it
No, I won't give up

I don't wanna be someone who walks away so easily
I'm here to stay and make the difference that I can make
Our differences they do a lot to teach us how to use
The tools and gifts we got yeah, we got a lot at stake
And in the end, you're still my friend at least we did intend
For us to work we didn't break, we didn't burn
We had to learn how to bend without the world caving in
I had to learn what I've got, and what I'm not
And who I am

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up
Still looking up.

I won't give up on us (no I'm not giving up)
God knows I'm tough enough (I am tough, I am loved)
We've got a lot to learn (we're alive, we are loved)
God knows we're worth it (and we're worth it)

I won't give up on us
Even if the skies get rough
I'm giving you all my love
I'm still looking up

I love these song lyrics.  Mine and Dane's song is Jason Mraz's "I'm yours".  It's a fun, adorable, playful love song and that perfectly describes our relationship in many ways...especially in the beginning.  As we've grown together and faced some trials together, this song above makes me think of my Dane and how much I love him.  I'm mostly thinking of this right now because my anxiety's been pretty high since we moved...mostly just at night, so I'm working through it and preparing for what postpartum might be like.  My postpartum and dealing with all of that is the hardest thing Dane and I have had to do together.  Him having to watch me struggle and not feel like he can help a ton and me struggling to feel peace.  I'm hoping with all that I'm doing to help myself things will be so much different for me this next time, but I'm also prepared that we might still be in for some difficult times.

It's hard to go through trials, or repeat the same trials, but there are also so many blessings that come from them.  For one, I've really been able to see what a great team Dane and I make.  He is my rock in so many ways and I think somehow I've been a rock for him as well.  He's my best friend and I'm utterly devoted to him and he is beyond devoted to me.   Different lyrics in this song kinda feel like my anthem for my Dane, my boys, my Heavenly Father and myself.   My favorite lines are "Cause even the stars they burn, some even fall to the earth, We've got a lot to learn, God knows we're worth it, No I won't give up".

Anyway...that's enough Sap for one night.  :)

We're having trouble letting go of the bottle.  But isn't he just so cute drinking it?

first morning waking up in the big boy bed

cuddling with Momma in the big boy bed, before we got the frame
At 16 months Boston began climbing out of his pack n play, so we had to switch to a big boy bed.  This was a nerve wracking adjustment for Momma (She made Daddy by her a video monitor for Boston's room) but Boss did pretty good.  Dane and I were hanging out in the kitchen one night after we'd put Boss to bed, and all of a sudden Boss walks in the kitchen, with a giant proud grin slapped on his face.  Dane and I cracked up laughing, had him show us how he climbed out, filmed it and then spent the rest of the night stressing out over what to do.  Boston spent most the night climbing out of bed, learning to open his door and strutting proudly into our room.  The next day we bought a mattress and a new door knob, with the lock on the outside.  A day after that we got Boston his bed frame.  It took him a couple days to adjust, but after that things went really smooth.

Boss loves the freedom of the big boy bed and stays in bed all night long, but in the morning hops out and plays in his room for about an hour, before he cries for us.  It's quite nice.
Boston's plans don't always work out quite right

"Daddy, get me out of here!"

Hanging out at church, wearing the blankie cape

I love his wild hair

Boston is our silly, wiggly, energetic, always moving, climby, sneaky, crazy boy.  He's always finding some new thing to climb under, through or on top of.  His little plans don't always work out quite right...hence the getting stuck in a chair.   :)  He is always making us laugh.  And how cute is our little super hero?  I love him in his little cape.  What a doll.

12 weeks!

Much more of a bump than last time

Boss looking for baby

Boss showing me his belly

12 weeks along!  This pregnancy I've been showing about 4 weeks earlier than last.  At 12 weeks I had an undeniable bump, but was getting close to being done with the morning sickness!  My morning sickness lasted till around 15 weeks this time.  I was definitely more sick than last time, but just thankful that both times it went away.... (I know too many people that stay sick their whole pregnancy and am UBER grateful not to be one of them).

Bath time

Boston loves his bath time.  He recently started laying down in the bath, with just his face above water.  He's pretty thrilled about this new accomplishment and I think he feels pretty brave.  He only gets a little flustered as he tries to flip over, while not getting his face dunked.  This boy is constantly making me laugh.

Cuddle time with Dadda

Boston may be a Momma's boy at times, but he is definitely at all times a Dadda's boy.  He loves his Dad.  To Boston, Dane is a rock star.  He walks in the room (even if Dane was just taking out the trash) and it's as if the coolest thing ever just happened!  Boston jumps up and down and gets all riled up whenever he sees his Dad.  He's even had whole weekends where he would not allow me to get near the two of them, without screaming his head off.  Guess Boss really needs some boy time every now and then.  Although Boss loves to bring out his tough guy, wild man personality when Daddy's around, he also has times he just likes to snuggle up to Dad and be held tight.  I always try to capture these moments on camera, because getting Boston to stay still long enough for a hug isn't a regular occurrence.
