So, it is 6 am and although I am most definitely not a regular early riser, I can not force myself to sleep in any longer. My mind feels totally awake, so I figured I would write a little on my blog. I have been telling Dane that I want to be an avid journal writer, but I can only seem to get as far as writing a few blog entries every now and then. Oh well, baby steps I guess.
Dane and I have officially moved from Rexburg and will be living in Kennewick for the summer. Right now, while we wait for Dane to start work we are spending our time on a little vacation in the Oregon Coast. We have gone to sleep every night to sounds of the Ocean. Not a c.d. of "Sounds of the Ocean", but the real deal, and every morning we wake up to an incredible view of endless water and waves crashing on the beach. It's awesome. Dane and I have had a blast exploring the beaches and little towns down the coast. Yesterday after breakfast we walked on the beach for hours and then drove down the coast to find cool places to explore. Dane found one really incredible viewpoint. We walked down a little trail carved between trees and stepped out onto a huge grassy cliff that overlooks the Ocean. It's hard to describe how awesome this view was, but all I could think about was the Moors in England that I read about in all of my Jane Austin and Bronte books. :) After beach exploring Dane and I had a picnic and then went shopping. We then headed back to our hotel for a much needed nap. We kept the window open with our mattress pulled right up to it, piled on tons of blankets and cuddled for hours. We both agree, that was the best nap we have ever taken. Also, my little preggy body felt like it was going to fall apart after all of our hiking and walking around, so the nap was extra extra nice for my back and legs. Later that night I made us dinner and cookies and then we set out to find an Ice Cream shop (surprisingly difficult task in this little town). We then watched some American Idol, a good movie and talked in bed, until we both fell asleep. Today we are going to hop on a boat to go Whale watching, visit a few light houses and probably sit on the beach for awhile, cuddled up in blankets. I can't wait. :) By the way, it has been really fun to see how much Dane loves being by the Ocean. He is like a little kid here, giddy about EVERYTHING. He has taken millions of pictures, so I will try and post them later.
To sum up, life is really, really good. Dane and I feel so lucky that we have had all this time from dating till now, to spend with just each other, and we are soaking up every last minute of it before we become parents. We are both so excited to be mom and dad, but we know that life is going to change in big ways. It won't be all about the two of us anymore, so we are eating it all up while we can.
Small Pregnancy update: I am 17 weeks along and feeling great. No more "morning sickness" so life is good again! Things (like the Grocery store) don't smell as bad as they did and I enjoy eating a variety of foods again. For awhile I pretty much only ate oranges. People in my classes even called me, "the orange girl". My belly has seemed to emerge overnight and Dane is loving that I am starting to look pregnant. I still have not gained back the weight I lost from my "all orange diet", mostly because my stomach finally seems to have a limit on how much it can take in at one time. I just can't pack it in like I used to. :) I feel like an old lady on most days because I can't lift anything, or even bend down a few times without getting a really sore lower back, but I will take that over morning sickness any day. Finally After over a month of being sick with Bronchitis I think I am starting to feel a little of that 2nd trimester burst of energy. I will post a pic later!
